We absolutely loved designing Amy and Brendan’s wedding in Austin. From the first meeting to their wedding day, we were head over heels for their unique design inspiration. We wanted to share the details behind their wedding in Austin with you.
When Amy and Brendan came to LBV Design House for their wedding design, they had a unique venue selected: Hotel Magdelena in Austin. If you have not had the chance to visit this boutique hotel, you’re in for a treat! This hotel takes inspiration from Barton Springs, with varying elevations of Texas, and a homey and natural style.
For their wedding, the couple used the lawn space at Hotel Magdalena. The green space was tucked away into the hotel, and you’d have no idea the hustle and bustle of Austin was just a few feet away. To make the space feel like an extension of the hotel, we brought in lots of greenery and complementary tones, such as muted pinks and oranges. We used a mixed media of black chairs to not distract from the ceremony space, but still bring in that homey and design-forward feel.
The wedding arch was filled with rusty colored flowers and tons of greenery. With this simple and elegant space, the couple remained the focus and all eyes were on them.
Once the ceremony was complete, we flipped the lawn for an al fresco dining service. We carried the Texas charm into the details of the dining space with brown plaster tableware, earth toned napkins, and full floral arrangements with rusty pinks, oranges, yellows, and white. We also used a variety of seating options, all in wood tones. If this reception didn’t make their guests want to move to Texas, we aren’t sure what will!
We incorporated Amy and Brendan’s design aesthetic into the food, drinks, and larger decor pieces as well. This was key to creating a seamless wedding experience.
When the guests arrived, they were greeted with a fully decked out, Texas style margarita display – yum! On the display, we honored their love story with photos of the couple, but also added special touches such as a Texas license plate, horns, and wooden decorative items.
The couple also hosted an empanada bar, which was not only delicious but brought the Texas charm home with its Tex-Mex flavor!
